HOW DO I RESERVE MY SPACE FOR CLASSES ONLINE?

When browsing the studio schedule, click the “Sign Up Now” button for the class you would like to attend. You will be prompted to sign in or create an account (MindBody Online - our online store and class scheduler) to complete pre-registration. Then choose whether you’d like to make a single, or recurring reservation, and it will be added to your cart. If you are currently practicing or have previously taken a class with us, you do not need to create a new account. Simply, click "Forgot Password?" and submit the email address we have for you on file to receive instructions to set your password. If you have trouble logging in or finding your account, please contact the studio to confirm the email address we have for you on file.

WHAT ARE THE PENALTIES IF I FAIL TO CANCEL OR SHOW UP FOR MY CLASS?

WHAT IF I AM NOT FLEXIBLE?

Contrary to what some may believe, being flexible is not a requirement to do yoga! We are all in different bodies and we practice to deepen our strength, flexibility, awareness and overall well being! Be gentle, patient and loving with yourself and results will come.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Dress comfortably in clothes that won’t restrict your movement. If you get cold easily, bring an extra layer for savasana at the end of class (guided relaxation and meditation). We practice in bare feet. Please remove your shoes and socks when you arrive at the studio and store them in our designated cubbys. We have hooks and shelves to store your belongings outside of our practice space.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Bring along a yoga mat, towel (for heated classes), a water bottle and any personal yoga props you may have. We have yoga mats and towels available for rent and yoga props available for your use.

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE TO CLASS?

The studio is open thirty minutes before class begins. Please arrive early enough to get yourself settled and set up - usually 10-15 minutes is perfect. If this is your first time at the studio arrive a bit earlier to fill out our waiver and to get acquainted with our space.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTICE YOGA?

The more regularly you practice, the more results you will see, however you can certainly benefit from even one yoga class per week! By committing a regular practice, you’ll begin to see positive changes both in your physical body and in your mental condition. We recommend at least two classes per week to see and feel optimal results.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH STYLE OF YOGA/CLASS TO CHOOSE?

We want to help you find the best class for you! Please talk to us if you are unsure where to start! Depending on your physical condition, your health, and your motivation for practicing, we can help guide you to the right class for you. Power Vinyasa is an active, heat-producing styles of yoga where the breath links one movement to the next, and is taught in the heated room. Slow Flow and Foundations classes are much quieter, slower-paced classes designed for you to learn more about alignment and overall safe practice. Classes like All Level Vinyasa (lightly heated) and Vinyasa Flow (unheated) are a combination of both.

WHAT IF I CAN'T DO A POSE/SEQUENCE?

We sometimes suggest beginners to start in our Foundations classes and workshops is to help you learn the basic poses and modifications to suit your level. If you move from there into a higher level class and are presented with something challenging, ask the instructor for a modification if one is not offered. We stress the non-competitive nature of yoga and invite you to make the practice your own — honoring your body and doing what is best for you—not forcing yourself into a shape that you aren’t ready for.

IS YOGA A WORKOUT? WILL I LOOSE WEIGHT?

The answer depends on the style of yoga you select, as well as the frequency and intensity with which you practice. Although the focus in yoga is about balance, healing, and reconnecting, a regular practice of vinyasa will not only open your mind and offer you a fresh perspective on your life, but it also will absolutely change your body. While not an intense aerobic workout, it does burn calories as you create long lean muscles and cultivate flexibility and greater range of motion in the joints. Just as important, as you move into an improved state of well-being, you will make choices off the mat that also improve your health.

IS YOGA SAFE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN?

As with any exercise program, the two general rules of thumb are to check with your physician and to listen to your own body and heed any warning signs that you are in a danger zone either for injury, overheating or overwork. Having said that, our yoga classes can be practiced by anyone, as long as modifications are done to accommodate for any individual’s issues. Also, if you had a strong practice before you became pregnant, it does help. It’s usually not a good idea to start a yoga practice as a beginner when you’re pregnant. There are some poses, such as inversions and lying on the belly, that are truly contraindicated for pregnancy. Since some classes are taught in a heated room, again, it is best to discuss with your physician your interest in starting or continuing your yoga practice while you are pregnant.
