Invigorate Your Practice With Bandhas

In yoga practice, we strive to build energy, prana, within the body and to direct this energy into the spine. We do this in both a physical practice and through the more subtle components of the energetic body. In Sanskrit, the word bandha means to lock or tighten. In yoga there are five bandhas, or energetic locks, and by learning how to engage them during our asana practice, we move into the deeper and more advanced layers of our practice by harnessing and sealing in our vital energy or prana. In this workshop we will:

  • Dissect and discuss each of the bandhas and discuss why and when we use them

  • Use experiential movement, to learn how to engage each of the bandhas

Move into a complete practice, while effectively and safely incorporating bandhas through asana, pranayama and meditation to harness the energetic potential of the yogic tradition

Come play (on hands and feet) with focus on a step-by-step approach. You’ll leave feeling energized, balanced and lighter in both body and spirit. Class is unheated. All levels welcome.

Donation Class to Support Standing Rock Sioux Tribe

Join Tracee for a vinyasa flow class where 100% of your donation is sent to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to raise funds for the Lakota People's Law Project to help fight the building of the pipeline, and protect their water and land. Clean drinking water is invaluable to human life and we are doing what we can to help protect it.

The Dakota Access Pipeline is proposed to transport 450,000 barrels per day of Bakken crude oil (which is fracked and highly volatile) from the lands of North Dakota to Patoka, Illinois. The threats this pipeline poses to the environment, human health and human rights are strikingly similar to those posed by the Keystone XL.

Our all flow classes offer a well rounded flow, focusing on linking breath and movement. Stoke your own inner fire to build heat with sun salutations, work your strength and flexibility with standing postures that build up to a peak pose. Postures modified for beginners while experienced practitioners are encouraged to play to their edge. Class is unheated.

Hadley, event organizer, was born and raised on the shoreline of CT, and been a feminist, yogi and advocate for the environment as long as she can remember. With climate struggles becoming more pressing and the need to advocate falling more on citizens, she has decided to combine her passions and partner with her long time friend Tracee to use yoga as a means of bringing awareness and raising much needed funds to causes that are important to both of them.

Teaching is an extensive part of my own spiritual journey. Forever and simply a student, I am grateful to find myself as a teacher and educator of one of my greatest passions.

On my mat, I am the most honest and true version of myself and I am continually seeking, questioning, exploring and unfolding through my “own” practice of asana, pranayama, meditation and the energetic more subtle body.

I offer a strong vinyasa class that is grounded in the physical, yet supports the powerful connection between the mind and body as a deeper tool to self-awareness and inner-strength. Expect clear and directive instructions while creatively flowing through a dynamic series of poses, challenging physical awareness, stamina, flexibility and concentration. The mindset is themed and all classes are set to thoughtfully selected music.

With a strong passion to teach, I reinforce to students of all levels that yoga is a step-by-step approach; in Sanskrit the term is vinyasa krama. When we work in this way, we meet the body where it is and we are ready for the next step; the ultimate experience is one of ease and is never forced. My goal is for students to connect to their own power and potential, walking away feeling lighter, creative and inspired.

I am a certified E-RYT 500 yoga teacher and teacher trainer. I teach a full-time class schedule, corporate and private clients, lead workshops and international retreats.

Back Pain & Sleep Support : A Restorative and Gentle Yoga Workshop

Do you or anyone you know suffer from back pain or have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep restfully throughout the night? If so, we can help! Join Erin in this hands-on workshop and learn how to provide a supportive practice for the support of back pain and techniques for a restful night sleep.

Open to everyone - from those who have a regular yoga practice to those who have never done yoga before. It will be split in four party - the first part will be a very brief lecture that is followed by a few supportive yogic methods; the second part will be guided breathing exercises that are supportive to tension in the body and a restless mind; the third party will consist of practicing a sequence of gentle kripalu and restorative yoga postures designed specifically to support back paint and insomnia ; and the fourth part will be a guided yoga nidra (yogic sleep) savasana.

  • Modifications of yoga postures will be taught and discussed.

  • Students will learn about the cautions of practicing with back pain as well as what poses to avoid.

  • Learn postures and movements that will strengthen muscles to better support back pain.

  • Appropriate pranayama (breath) practices will be reviewed that will support relief to insomnia.

All levels are welcome to attend the class, whether you have a regular practice or you're a beginner. If you have any concerns, ask your doctor if this workshop is safe for you.

Erin, RYT 500, studied at Kripalu & the CreativeKids Yoga School. Erin traveled internationally and studied Ashtanga and Ayurveda. She returned to Kripalu to further explore vinyasa yoga, yoga for special populations, as well as advanced pranayama. Erin is a firm believer that modern technology has faded our natural form of connection to each other, nature and ourselves. This is where she believes that yoga will shift these habits. Her mission is to empower any level student in a safe and nonjudgmental setting.
